🔥 HOLY $H!+! TRUMP THIRD TERM?! Two Words Just Set D.C. On Fire!

There are apparently two words Donald Trump can utter that immediately cause half of Washington, D.C. to burst into flames.

Not “executive order.”

Not “martial law.”

Not even “you’re fired.”

Two words.

Trump dropped them this week while talking about when he might eventually leave office, and within minutes the political machine was once again grinding out the question Democrats have feared and Trump has repeatedly enjoyed teasing:

Is Donald Trump actually thinking about a third term?

We’ll get to exactly what he said.

Because first, you need to appreciate the absolute insanity surrounding those two little words.

I Wear One Jersey

I’ve said this a million times, and I’ll keep saying it:

I wear the jersey of the Constitution.

I don’t care whether you are Republican, Democrat, independent, conservative, liberal or something somebody invented last Tuesday.

Do something right, I’ll commend you.

Do something wrong, I’ll call you out.

And when allegations involve violence against women or children, your political jersey means absolutely nothing to me.

Which brings us to Republican Congressman Max Miller.

Miller is facing serious allegations from his former wife, Emily Moreno, involving alleged abuse toward her and their young daughter.

Miller denies the allegations.

That distinction matters.

Axios reported that Miller is refusing to resign because he believes doing so would effectively amount to an admission of guilt. But fellow Republicans have begun distancing themselves from him, and President Trump reportedly called Miller himself and questioned whether his congressional campaign could survive the controversy.

And somehow, because Washington apparently no longer possesses a bottom, the dispute has even descended into accusations involving the couple’s daughter’s stuffed blue bunny.

Yes.

A United States congressman.

Domestic abuse allegations.

Political fallout.

Donald Trump.

And a stuffed bunny.

Welcome to Washington.

But the principle remains simple: investigate the allegations, establish the facts, and stop protecting politicians simply because they wear your team’s colors.

Because if your principles disappear when somebody on your side gets accused, they weren’t principles.

They were merchandise.

Speaking of Contempt…

Anthony Fauci has now landed in another extraordinary constitutional confrontation.

A Senate committee voted Thursday to hold Fauci in contempt of Congress and refer the matter to the Justice Department after he invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times while being questioned about COVID-era decisions and related matters.

Senator Rand Paul argues that because former President Joe Biden granted Fauci a broad pardon covering the relevant period, Fauci no longer has a legitimate fear of federal prosecution and therefore cannot use the Fifth Amendment as a shield.

Fauci’s attorneys strongly disagree.

That question could now become a fascinating legal collision involving presidential pardon power, congressional investigative authority and the Fifth Amendment itself.

In other words, Washington has somehow managed to make COVID controversial again.

Because apparently five years of screaming at each other wasn’t enough.

Meanwhile, the Middle East Is Playing With Matches

While America argues over politicians, pardons and stuffed animals, the situation in the Middle East is getting considerably less funny.

Saudi Arabia reportedly expects potential coordinated attacks from Iranian-backed Iraqi militias in the north and the Houthis in Yemen to the south, with Saudi officials saying intelligence points toward possible attacks on energy facilities, airports and ports.

This is happening while negotiations continue over potentially reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

So much for the fairy tale ending.

That doesn’t necessarily mean diplomacy is dead. Reuters reported Friday that Iran and Gulf states may still be moving toward some form of arrangement over Hormuz.

But an agreement over shipping lanes is not the same thing as peace.

The IRGC still exists.

The Houthis still exist.

Iranian-backed militias still exist.

And perhaps most importantly, there remains a fundamental question about exactly who has the authority inside Iran to guarantee any agreement in the first place.

That’s not a small detail.

That’s the entire ballgame.

And Now Cuba

Then there’s Cuba.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio is leading an increasingly aggressive Trump administration pressure campaign against Havana.

Axios reported Friday that the administration has taken more than two dozen punitive actions as part of an effort to economically isolate the Cuban government, with Rubio making clear that Washington intends to continue tightening the vise.

This doesn’t automatically mean military action is coming.

But sanctions, intelligence activity, economic pressure and increasingly hostile rhetoric are exactly the kinds of things you watch when governments begin moving pieces around the board.

Cuba is only about 90 miles from Florida.

Whatever happens there doesn’t stay there.

Then Trump Tosses Another Match

Back in Washington, Trump signed two new executive orders Thursday targeting birthright citizenship.

The orders seek to restrict citizenship in several narrower categories and attack the practice commonly called “birth tourism,” reopening a constitutional battle that the administration recently lost in broader form before the Supreme Court.

You can practically hear the lawsuits being printed.

Trump knows this.

His lawyers know this.

Democrats know this.

The ACLU knows this.

Everybody knows this is heading straight back toward the courts.

And right in the middle of that constitutional brawl, Trump started talking about another subject guaranteed to make Washington completely lose its mind:

How long Donald Trump intends to remain president.

And then came the two words.

“Who Knows.”

Trump said:

“By the time I leave office—which could be a long time, who knows, but it could also be fairly quick.”

There it is.

Who knows.

That’s all it took.

Two words.

Cue the third-term headlines.

Cue Trump 2028.

Cue the constitutional-crisis panels.

Cue 47 former government officials sitting underneath BREAKING NEWS banners trying to determine whether Donald Trump has just secretly announced himself emperor.

And somewhere, Trump is probably enjoying every second of it.

Because whether you love him or despise him, Trump understands one political reality perhaps better than anyone alive:

His opponents cannot stop reacting to him.

He taps the glass.

They jump.

He posts something.

They assemble panels.

He throws two deliberately ambiguous words into a sentence about leaving office and suddenly America is debating presidential term limits again.

But this is where the jersey of the Constitution comes back into the story.

Because Trump doesn’t get to decide this.

Neither do Democrats.

Neither does MAGA.

Neither does CNN.

Neither does Fox News.

The Constitution does.

The Twenty-Second Amendment states:

“No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”

Donald Trump was elected president in 2016.

Donald Trump was elected president again in 2024.

Under the Constitution as it exists today, he cannot simply run again and be elected president for a third time.

There are constitutional theories involving succession and the relationship between the Twenty-Second and Twelfth Amendments, and Congress’s own Constitution Annotated acknowledges some unresolved academic questions involving those scenarios. But that is a very different proposition from Trump simply appearing on the ballot in 2028 and winning a conventional third election.

Could America amend the Constitution?

Sure.

America can amend the Constitution to say the president has to wear a cowboy hat every Wednesday if enough states agree.

But amending it requires overwhelming national political support.

That is not Donald Trump saying two words at a microphone.

So no—

Donald Trump did not announce a third-term campaign.

But did Donald Trump know exactly what would happen when he inserted the words “who knows” into a sentence about when he leaves office?

Come on.

After a decade of watching this man operate, you tell me.

Because Trump may have just purchased another nationwide news cycle for the price of two words.

And Washington paid him in cash.

The bigger lesson isn’t whether Donald Trump was trolling.

It’s that Americans cannot allow politicians—any politicians—to replace constitutional principles with tribal loyalty.

Challenge Trump when he deserves challenging.

Challenge Fauci.

Challenge Republicans.

Challenge Democrats.

Challenge Congress.

Challenge the media.

Challenge me.

But read the damn Constitution.

Because unlike politicians—

it doesn’t care which jersey you’re wearing.
