Do you want to know when you’ll die?… I don’t, nor how. Unfortunately however in the world of medicine, there is a new artificially intelligent grim reaper that does. Welcome to modern medicine and the rush to once, again, predict what no one should know…this time, when you’ll die.

A new study has been released that know outlines how computers are more accurate than current models in predicting in anticipating hospitalization stays, mortality rate and other, what they are calling, customizable healthcare experiences. This is the world of deep learning; another advance function powered by…you guessed it…Google. In order to improve the overall healthcare experience, and to save the four biggest insurance companies a boatload of money, there has now been created a deep learning model to personalize healthcare. More specifically a model that can collect all your personal medical data…analyze it against everyone else’s personal medical data and begin to act as a modern day grim reaper by guessing, based on predictive modeling…death.

I am certain the reason behind all this work is one again BIG MONEY…well, saving the already uber-rich even more dollars! If you can predict my mortality, my length of hospital stay, my probability of being re-admitted and ultimately my overall health state, is it a far leap for you to start adjusting my insurance to account for the higher risk? Progressive and other insurance agencies already tape drivers and/or send data back to adjust insurance rates.

Once again, what freedoms are we willing to give up to allow them to continue to take from our rights rather than provide us back with any quality of life, additional liberties and or actual life-changing improvements?
