Now, reporting on an updated Democratic Socialists of America platform raises a far more serious constitutional question.
The reported program would eliminate the United States Senate, replace the independently elected president with an executive selected by Congress, and place the federal judiciary beneath congressional authority. It also reportedly includes universal immigration amnesty, major military reductions, closing overseas bases, ending sanctions and sweeping changes to police and prisons.
