Title: EXCLUSIVE! They “Deceived & Gaslit For Years”, In The Hopes Of Preserving “Democracy”; Then It All Collapsed Overnight
Description :
Gerry Baker, Editor at Large for the Wall Street Journal, claims: “They’ve deceived and gaslit us for four years, all in the name of ‘democracy.” According to Baker, this deceit “collapsed” during the Presidential debate on Thursday.
(ss1) “Until the world saw the truth against the misinformation about Mr. Biden’s competence, the Democrats evidently thought they could get away with promoting it. By perpetuating that fiction, they were revealing their contempt for voters and for democracy itself,” Baker states.
Baker continues:
(ss2) “Biden succeeded because he dedicated his life to toeing the party line. Like many politicians whose egos dwarf their talents, he climbed the political ladder by slavishly following his party. (ss3) Eventually, in the ultimate act of partisan loyalty, he became Barack Obama’s vice president, the pinnacle of achievement for those who are incapable yet loyal: the perfect position for the consummate ‘yes man.'”
(ss4) “But then, just as he was ready to drift into a comfortable and well-deserved obscurity, his party needed a front man—a familiar and innocuous face to take down an unpopular president. They sought a loyal and reliable figurehead, a flag of convenience under which they could sail the progressive vessel into the deepest reaches of American life—on a mission to advance statism, climate extremism and self-lacerating wokery. There was no more loyal and convenient vehicle than Joe”
So, who has actually been ‘pulling America’s strings’ these past years?
(ss5) “It’s tempting to say to the Democratic machine frantically mobilizing against him: You don’t get to do this. You don’t get to deceive, dissemble and gaslight us for years about how this man was both brilliantly competent at the job and a healing force for national unity, and now tell us, when your deception is uncovered, that it’s bedtime for Bonzo, thanks for your service, and let’s move on.” Baker warns.
(ss6) “It is now going horribly wrong. Much of his party has no use for him anymore. In a remarkably cynical act of bait-and-switch, they are trying to swap him out for someone more useful to their cause. Part of me thinks they shouldn’t be allowed to get away with it. I find myself in the odd position of wanting to root for poor mumbling Joe. It’s tempting to say to the Democratic machine: You don’t get to deceive, dissemble, and gaslight us for years.”
Something significant has snapped within ‘the system.’ While it’s tempting to situate such events in the immediate moment, Baker alludes to a longer cycle of gaslighting and deception that has suddenly burst into view.
Such events, though seemingly ephemeral, can be portents of deeper structural contradictions. When Baker writes about Biden being the latest ‘flag of convenience’ under which the ruling class sailed the progressive vessel into the deepest reaches of American life, he likely refers to the 1970s era of the Trilateral Commission and the Club of Rome.
The author of a portion of this article and the one on your screen, Alastair Crooke writes, “The 1970s and 1980s marked the transition from traditional liberalism to an illiberal, mechanical control system—managerial technocracy—that today fraudulently poses as liberal democracy.
French anthropological historian Emmanuel Todd examines these longer dynamics. He argues that the implosion of ‘Anglo’ Protestantism in the U.S. and England, with its habits of work, individualism, and industry, triggered the decline of traditional values and led to managerial technocracy and nihilism. Todd avers that religion lingers in the West in a ‘zombie’ state, leaving societies floundering without a guiding metaphysical sphere.”
The incoming doctrine that only a wealthy financial elite, tech experts, and leaders of multinational corporations and banks possess the required foresight to manipulate a complex system changed politics completely. Mores and empathy were gone, replaced by the cold disregard of technocracy.
When a senior WSJ editor says the ‘deception and gaslighting’ collapsed with the CNN Biden-Trump debate, we should pay attention. He is saying the scales finally fell from people’s eyes.
What was being gaslit was the fiction of democracy and America’s self-declared role as the trailblazer and pathfinder of humanity. The reality was very different. States can ‘live a lie’ for a long period, but as Todd compellingly points out, deception and manipulation of public perceptions can only go so far. Remember that this Great Republic of the United States of America was The Last Best Hope!
The same is true of Europe. The EU’s aspiration to become a global geopolitical actor relied on gaslighting the public that member states could continue to be real national entities while the EU scooped up all national decision-making prerogatives by deceit. The mutiny at the recent European elections reflected this discontent.
Biden’s condition has been long known. So who has been making critical daily decisions about war, peace, the judiciary, and state authority? According to the WSJ, “Unelected advisers, party hacks, scheming family members, and random hangers-on make the critical daily decisions.”
Perhaps we must reconcile with the fact that Biden is an angry, senile man who yells at his staff. Senior officials curate information to avoid provoking a negative reaction, fearing his outbursts. “He doesn’t take advice from anyone other than those few top aides, creating a perfect storm of isolation,” a senior administration official said.
Seymour Hersh, a well-known investigative journalist, reports that Biden’s
“Biden’s drift into blankness has been ongoing for months, as he and his foreign policy aides have been urging a ceasefire that will not happen in Gaza whilst continuing to supply the weapons that make a ceasefire less likely. There’s a similar paradox in Ukraine, where Biden has been financing a war that cannot be won – yet refusing to participate in negotiations that could end the slaughter”.
“The reality behind all of this, as I’ve been told for months, is that Biden is simply ‘no longer there’ – in terms of understanding the contradictions of the policies he and his foreign policy advisers have been carrying out”.
Politico tells us Biden’s insular senior team consists of longtime aides who have the president’s ear: Mike Donilon, Steve Ricchetti, Bruce Reed, Ted Kaufman, and Ron Klain. “It’s the same people—he has not changed those people for 40 years. The number of people who have access to the president has gotten smaller and smaller,” a strategist said. “The more you get into the bunker, the less you listen to anyone.”
Decisions are made by a small ‘Washington village,’ says Todd. Jake Sullivan and Antony Blinken sit at the center of the inter-agency view, where policy is mostly discussed. This view, spread through a matrix of interlocking clusters, includes the Military Industrial Complex, Congressional leaders, Big Donors, Wall Street, the Treasury, the CIA, the FBI, cosmopolitan oligarchs, and the princelings of the security-intelligence world.
These ‘princes’ pretend to have a foreign policy view and fight to protect their fiefdoms. Sometimes they channel their ‘take’ via the NSC, but if possible, they ‘stovepipe’ it directly to key actors in the Washington village. Nonetheless, the 1992 Wolfowitz doctrine, which underscored American supremacy at all costs, remains the current doctrine framing the inter-agency baseline.
Dysfunction can persist for years without public awareness. But when a crisis hits or a Presidential debate misfires, the collapse of manipulation becomes clear. Now let’s think for a minute back to Covid, January 6th, Bird Flu, BLM Riots, George Floyd, Mass Shootings across the Nation…how often have we been misled. You can’t seriously believe that this lying mocking bird media tells you the truth sometimes and lies to you the other.
Baker highlighted one structural contradiction: the Faustian bargain of pretending a liberal democracy operates in tandem with a classic liberal economy, versus the reality of an illiberal oligarchic leadership atop a hyper-financialized corporate economy that has sucked the life from the classic economy and created toxic inequalities.
Todd argues that the implosion of the Soviet Union rendered the U.S. so triumphant that it paradoxically unleashed the global Rules-Based Order, while the West was being consumed from within. He also notes that America’s declaration of being the greatest military nation on earth clashes with its reduced manufacturing capacity, especially militarily, while clashing with a stabilized Russia and a manufacturing giant China.
These unresolved paradoxes, Todd maintains, are agents of Western decline. He has a point.
Let me know if there are any specific changes or further improvements you’d like!
So, as we always like to conclude, what say you!? Your opinion is what matters and I want to see it in the comments below.
