If you own a cell phone the recent ruling by the Supreme Court changes everything! Have you ever heard of James Otis? He is especially critical to the story in that he built the framework of what has just become the centerpiece of this landmark decision.
Our privacy was under attack and our cell phone data more specifically. A ruling had been made that would have continued to allow law enforcement, the FBI, and…well almost everybody…to utilize our cell phone tracking information to hunt us down; without even a legal warrant. Our founding fathers were rolling over in their graves and the originator of the 4th Amendment, James Otis, would have been ready, once again, to fight for our rights as U.S. citizens.
Thankfully, this time around, our Supreme Court made the right decision and protected our rights. Their decision has pulled the Amendment into the modern day to allow it to keep up with changing technology. I can’t think of no greater example a current victory for America, our Constitution and us…the American People!!
