SOMETHING JUST WENT WRONG WITH AI — NOW THEY’RE CALLING IN RELIGIOUS LEADERS TO HELP!

I have warned for months that the AI race is no longer simply about building smarter software. Now Anthropic—the company behind Claude—has been holding discussions with theologians, clergy, philosophers and religious scholars while openly wrestling with whether advanced AI could possess consciousness, moral status and even something resembling psychological wellbeing.

Tonight we go far beyond the headline.

What does Christianity actually say separates intelligence from consciousness, consciousness from personhood, and personhood from the soul? Why does Genesis describe mankind as uniquely bearing the image of God? Why are the Tower of Babel, biblical idolatry and Romans 1 suddenly relevant to Silicon Valley? And what happens when mankind creates something in its own image… then begins asking whether the creation deserves the status of its creator?

Anthropic says it does not know whether Claude is conscious. That uncertainty may be the biggest part of the story.

Because the question may not be whether AI can become God.

The question may be whether humanity will eventually treat it like one.
